Founded in 2008, Plus500 is a leading provider of Contracts for Difference (CFDs), delivering trading services on shares, forex, commodities, cryptocurrencies, ETFs, options, and indices, using innovative trading technology. It is a company that wants to continue to acquire new customers and retain active ones, while also increase market share in existing jurisdictions and expand to new jurisdictions. Plus500 Ltd is a UK FTSE 250 company listed on the London Stock Exchange’s main market for listed companies, and one of the sponsors of Atletico de Madrid.

Trading Platforms

Plus500 relies solely on its proprietary trading platform, offering versions for iPhone/iPad, Android, Windows Mobile, Windows 10, and Web browsers. The platform offers access to +2000 financial instruments with free real-time quotes and dedicated round-the-clock customer support. It has a lot of interesting tools and advanced features like:

  • stop limit/stop-loss/trailing stop
  • guaranteed stop
  • free email & push notifications on market events
  • alerts on price movements, change, and traders’ sentiments.

Even though the company does not offer a diversified set of trading platforms from our point of view, it claims to have more than 304 thousand active clients and 39+ million positions opened. If you are a trader that’s accustomed to popular platforms like MT4, or if you want to use Expert Advisors, this may not be your best choice.

Regulation

Plus500CY is a Cyprus-based company with its offices located in Limassol. The company is authorized and regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) with license number 250/14, to offer Contracts for Difference (CFDs) in various financial products. According to the information provided on their website, the company is a rapid-growing CFD provider and currently offers a wide variety of instruments, including cryptocurrencies and options.

Account Types

The trading account types offer is also very thin, with only retail and professional accounts available. Since August 2018, all brokerage companies must comply with new requirements for CFD trading. For retail accounts, the maximum leverage is 1:30 for major forex pairs and drops to 1:2 for cryptocurrencies. Professional accounts, on the other hand, can benefit from up to 1:300 leverage, but an eligibility process must be passed.

In order to become a Plus500 professional client, you must comply with at least 2 of the following 3 criteria:

  • sufficient trading activity in the last 12 months
  • financial portfolio of over $500,000 (this includes cash savings and financial instruments)
  • relevant experience in the financial services sector.

Promotions

Even though a few years ago Plus500 was well-known for its $25 no deposit bonus, at the time of writing the company does not have any active promotions for new or existing clients. The only way to earn extra money is through their affiliate program that rewards you each time you bring a client that opens and funds a real account.

Pros and Cons

  • Wide variety of trading instruments covering even options and cryptocurrencies.
  • Vast experience in the trading world, founded in 2008.
  • owned by a company listed on the London Stock Exchange.

  • Only their proprietary trading platform is available, with different versions for any type of device.
  • A single account type with the same feature, no matter how big the deposit is.
  • No customer support via telephone.

Educational Material

Unfortunately, Plus500 is not one of the brokerage companies providing educational material for its customers, being focused solely on providing trading services.
